NORTH PROVIDENCE – Betty Sadaniantz has been named dean of the St. Joseph School of Nursing.
A full-time faculty member of the school since 2009, Sadaniantz also since 2013 has been a freshman level chairperson, which includes teaching responsibilities for nursing diagnosis, legal aspects of nursing care, and pharmacology.
Sadaniantz brings experience in management, education, publishing, and clinical practice to her new role. She has served on national and regional boards, including the American Organization of Nurse Executives, the American Association of Critical Care Nurses, and the American Heart Association. Clinical practice experience includes intensive care, coronary care, and medical-surgical nursing, as well as labor and delivery.
A graduate of Rhode Island College, Sadaniantz received her doctor of nursing practice degree from the University of Rhode Island. She earned her master of science in nursing administration from the Medical University of South Carolina.
Sadaniantz has focused her doctorate clinical hours and capstone project on the Institute of Medicine Report of 2011: “The Future of Nursing: Leading Change, Advancing Health.” She has been involved in the implementation of IOM recommendations for the transformation of health care through work with the Rhode Island Action Coalition of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Campaign for Action, and as project director for the Rhode Island Center for Nursing Excellence.
An affiliate of CharterCARE Health Partners and located on the campus of Our Lady of Fatima Hospital, St. Joseph School of Nursing provides a fully accredited three-year diploma program in nursing, following which graduates are eligible to take the national licensing examination for registered nurses.
