Staff are partners in company wellness

It’s not easy getting employee buy-in for a company wellness program. But Cintas Corp. is seeing more workers go all-in on a healthier lifestyle, and all it took was one thing – feedback.

“We’ve really been able to continue to grow, thanks to partner feedback,” said Jill Lambert, human resources manager for the uniform rental enterprise. “It is great to see the increased engagement.”

Feedback led to additional staffing at Cintas’ free, on-site clinic. Partners now have access to a nutritionist, a nurse practitioner and a wellness coach.

Cintas also carries out stretching routines with its staff before each shift to maintain a safe and healthy workforce. It seems to be paying off. Cintas is just the fifth Rhode Island company to receive certification from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s Voluntary Protection Program, which recognizes companies with effective health and safety-management plans. The company also has seen significant drops in accident and turnover rates. n
