Can comedy unite? Find out Thursday as University of Rhode Island campus organizations present “Stand Up for Peace.” As part of the university’s annual Martin Luther King Jr. Week, Jewish-American comic Scott Blakeman and Palestinian-American comic Dean Obeidallah will share their stand-up routines in an effort to encourage a dialogue in support of a political, peaceful resolution of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. The performance is also an initiative to foster understanding between Arab and Jewish-Americans. The pair’s performance will be followed by a candid Q&A session.
