PROVIDENCE – The R.I. Department of Health has awarded the state’s Safe Place for Teens to Work Award to the Pawtucket Red Sox.
According to a news release, the award recognizes the Pawtucket Red Sox’s commitment to providing teenagers with a place to work that is safe and healthy. This is the fifth time that the Pawtucket Red Sox have received the Safe Place for Teens to Work Award. The organization employs approximately 280 teenagers annually.
“A part-time job is a great way for teenagers to learn lessons about responsibility and hard work, but nothing is more important than teenagers’ safety and their academics,” said Michael Fine, director of the health department. •
