Stepping Up to host workforce development summit

PROVIDENCE – The United Nurses and Allied Professionals of Rhode Island Hospital Education Fund, known as Stepping Up, will host a workforce development summit at Rhode Island Foundation, 1 Union Station, on April 14 from 8:30 a.m.-12 p.m. Key guests include members of public and private postsecondary education, the Governor’s Workforce Board, Department of Labor and Training and leaders in the health care industry.

The summit will include a panel of health care leaders who will discuss “best practices for cultivating a dynamic healthc are workforce.” Members of this panel include Rhode Island Hospital President Margaret M. Van Bree, Joan Kwiatkowski, CEO of Carelink and PACE Rhode Island, Cynthia Farrell, of human resources at Thundermist Health Center, and Jane Donohue, of Scallop Shell Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.

The presentation will be facilitated by Shana Bloom, facilitator of the Healthcare Industry Partnership, and Laura Carbone, advisor of the Healthcare Industry Partnership. The panel discussion will be co-moderated by Barry Nickerson, coordinator of the UNAP RIH Education Fund, and Sandra Olivo Peterson, career adviser and case manager for the “CNA Talent Network” Real Jobs RI project.
