Sturges House sells for $1.25M

PROVIDENCE – Sturges House, a 1939 home designed by architect Peter Geddes for the India Point Corp., has sold for $1.25 million, according to Residential Properties Ltd., which represented both buyer and seller.

The property, at 47 Manning St. on the East Side of Providence, was designed in a streamlined Moderne style. It has 3,600 square feet of interior space and was built on the site of the Howard O. Sturges House, which was later demolished and the land divided among his heirs, according to Residential Properties.

The agents who represented Residential in the transaction were Jim DeRentis, on behalf of the seller, and Christina Ardente, on behalf of the buyer.
