BOSTON – Suffolk University’s board of trustees has fired Margaret McKenna, president of the university for a year.
The Boston Globe reported that McKenna said she was unfairly fired and plans to fight it.
The firing happened after an emergency board meeting Thursday.
According to the Globe, the board discussed the results of an investigation into allegations that McKenna spent university money excessively and verbally abused employees – allegations that were determined to be unsubstantiated.

Provost Marisa Kelly has been named acting president, according to the Boston Herald.
According to Suffolk University’s website, McKenna was appointed the university’s 10th president in 2015, becoming the first woman to lead the university.
