Sullivan & Co. merges with BlumShapiro

PROVIDENCE – Public accounting firm Sullivan & Co. LLP has merged with BlumShapiro, the largest New England-based accounting, tax and business consulting firm, effective Jan. 1.

With the addition of Sullivan & Co., BlumShapiro has become a $58 million organization and one of the top 50 accounting firms in the country, Blum’s Chief Marketing Officer Thomas DeVitto told Providence Business News.

According to DeVitto, all of Sullivan & Co.’s 69 employees will be retained, including management. DeVitto added that there may be some announcements for how senior management is organized, but that it will be Sullivan’s existing personnel.

“Our objective is to add more jobs,” DeVitto told PBN, adding that Blum hopes to use the resources Sullivan has and compliment it with its own to grow as an organization.

BlumShapiro, which has offices in West Hartford and Shelton, Conn., Boston and Rockland, Mass., and now Providence, has more than 300 professionals and staff and offers auditing, accounting, tax and business advisory services.
