Supporters honored, money raised at gala

Newport Hospital, the county’s only acute-care hospital, raised more than $390,000 for its intensive care unit at “A Seaside Summer Evening,” its annual gala and auction celebrating the van Beuren Charitable Foundation. The event gathered more than 300 people to honor longtime supporters, the van Beuren family.

Supporters honored, money raised at gala

Newport Hospital, the county’s only acute-care hospital, raised more than $390,000 for its intensive care unit at “A Seaside Summer Evening,” its annual gala and auction celebrating the van Beuren Charitable Foundation. The event gathered more than 300 people to honor longtime supporters, the van Beuren family.

Guests were entertained at Ochre Court with cocktails, dinner and live entertainment, along with a live auction presented by C. Hugh Hildesley of Sotheby’s and video tribute to the van Beuren Charitable Foundation.

“The van Beuren family and Newport Hospital have enjoyed a long and close relationship for many years. We share the vision to improve the quality of life for all the residents of Newport County,” said August B. Cordeiro, president of Newport Hospital. “The generosity and involvement of this remarkable family date back several generations and have allowed Newport Hospital to grow and flourish with the latest in technology and innovative programs and services. They are a wonderful partner.” •
