GLENVIEW, Ill. – Sixty-four percent of small-business owners will offer a holiday or year-end bonus to employees this year, according to a new survey.
The November 2016 SurePayroll Small Business Scorecard, compiled by online payroll services company SurePayroll, says the survey shows an 8 percentage point increase compared with two years ago.
“This appears to be part of a trend we’ve been seeing for a while, as small-business owners reported meeting and exceeding their goals financially,” said SurePayroll General Manager Andy Roe in a statement.
Survey results show about 29 percent of respondents saying they were negatively impacted by macroeconomic events, compared with 36 percent two years ago. Seventy-five percent of respondents said they were optimistic about the economy, representing a 7 percentage point increase compared with last year.
“Aside from last month when optimism was fairly low, optimism and, more specifically, profits have been steady. Now they’re rewarding their employees accordingly,” Roe added.
