Swipely launches ‘Main Street Marketing Manager’

Posted 4/4/12

PROVIDENCE – Local startup Swipely, which functions as a universal rewards program through credit card purchases, has launched its “Main Street Marketing Manager” platform for small businesses.

The platform allows Swipely merchants to target customers with deals based on recent purchases. Businesses can send “thank you” messages to customers who spent a certain amount of money, or “we miss you” messages to those who have not made purchases in a certain time frame.

“We crunch the big data behind millions of transactions across our merchant network to help owners engage customers without becoming technology experts or spending lots of money or time they don’t have,” Angus Davis, founder and CEO of Swipely, said in prepared remarks.

Swipely’s original program, which launched in February 2011 with 75 merchants in Providence, allowed consumers to get cash back and accrue points with every swipe of their credit card at participating locations.

The Providence-based company currently has roughly 350 merchants in Providence, Boston, San Francisco and New York.
