WARWICK – Ahead of one of the busiest travel times of the year, T.F. Green Airport has been named the seventh best airport in the country by Conde Nast Traveler in its annual readers’ choice awards, which ranked the 10 best and worst airports.
Green was described as the “gateway” to Rhode Island and southern New England, and was lauded for its small size.
“It takes no time to navigate,” the magazine said.
Also highlighted was the new train station at the airport that connects travelers to Providence and Boston, as well as train service to Foxboro for Patriots football games.

Kelly Fredericks, president and CEO of the Rhode Island Airport Corporation, said, “We are pleased once again to be recognized as one of the top 10 best airports in the U.S. in the 2014 Readers’ Choice poll for Conde Nast Traveler– a highly regarded international travel publication. Ranked seventh best airport in the country, Green is the only New England airport included in the top ten. We thank our passengers, who enjoy the convenience and easy access of T. F. Green, for their support.”
Indianapolis Airport was ranked the top airport, while LaGuardia Airport in New York was named the worst. The magazine considered more than 1 million votes from nearly 77,000 readers for the readers’ choice awards, which rated such things as hotels, cities, islands, cruises and resorts.
Last year, readers of Travel + Leisure magazine also voted T.F. Green Airport one of the best airports in the country.
Meanwhile, the airport is preparing for holiday travel by reminding travelers to arrive early, and allow extra time to get from parking areas to security, and to remember their photo identification if checking in at the ticket counter.
