T.F. Green sees traffic rise in June

WARWICK – T.F. Green Airport saw a year-to-year increase in passenger traffic in June, with 332,925 total passengers, a 2.84 percent rise from June 2012, according to numbers released by the R.I. Airport Corporation.
The airport’s year-to-date passenger traffic also saw an increase over 2012: T.F. Green’s 1.8 million passengers in the first five months of 2013 constituted a 2.54 percent jump from 2012.
Though the airport appeared to reverse the steady downward trend of the past several years, its passenger traffic numbers were still lower than those of 2009, 2010 and 2011.
T.F. Green also saw large year-to-year increases in total cargo enplaned and deplaned. In June, the airport transported roughly 2 million pounds of cargo, an 3.29 percent increase over June 2012. Year to date, the cargo tonnage increased 12.35 percent over 2012.
The five airlines with the greatest share of T.F. Green’s passenger traffic in May were Southwest Airlines, at 46.1 percent; US Airways, at 22.2 percent; Delta Airlines, at 13.3 percent; United Airlines, at 10.6 percent; and JetBlue Airways, at 7.5 percent.
Among them, Delta registered a year-to-year increase in June, growing 1.82 percent. Southwest fell 5.62 percent, US Airways dropped 6.6 percent, and United fell 0.7 percent. JetBlue did not fly into or out of the airport in June 2012.
In 2013 so far, T.F. Green has had 30,688 aircraft depart or land at the airport.
