T.F. Green to adopt SITA cloud technology to help attract international airlines

WARWICK – The R.I. Airport Corporation will soon use SITA’s cloud technology for passenger management to attract international airlines, according to a news release from SITA.
The technology – SITA AirportConnect Open – uses a check-in and boarding platform. It is used at airports around the world, and will be implemented at T.F. Green Airport next month.
Kelly Fredericks, president and CEO of the R.I. Airport Corporation, said, “As an international airport we need to provide the best facilities to overseas airlines to encourage them to set up routes to Rhode Island. SITA’s airport technology is used by hundreds of airports across the world and installing this system makes it quick and easy for airlines to work here in the same way they operate at other airports. SITA has also provided us with a solution that is hugely flexible and scalable. Because it is a cloud-based service we do not have to invest in infrastructure on site here at the airport and new airlines can be up and running quickly and adding seasonal routes will be easy.”

International carriers will begin flying to Rhode Island in June. TACV/Cabo Verde Airlines’ will begin flights to Cape Verde, while Condor Airlines will start seasonal nonstop service to Frankfurt, Germany, and connecting European destinations.
The technology will allow any airline to check-in and board passengers from any location, enabling airlines to deliver a consistent level of customer service, the news release said.
