CRANSTON – Wil VandeWiel has been appointed the new chief operating officer and president of Taco Inc., effective Monday, according to Taco President and CEO John Hazen White Jr.
White, who will remain CEO, introduced VandeWiel at company employee meetings held Thursday in Cranston and Fall River.
VandeWiel will oversee daily operations of Taco and work with White and his board of directors in steering Taco’s future growth.
White, the third generation of the White family to lead Taco, a manufacturer of heating and cooling equipment, will refocus his responsibilities on building new partnerships and strategic acquisitions worldwide in pursuit of company growth and diversification.
A native of the Netherlands, VandeWiel, also a U.S. citizen, is “an experienced executive with a track record of building collaborative teams and achieving sustainable growth with a number of top-tier international companies,” according to information provided by Taco.
VandeWiel served as president/CEO of DORMA GmbH, a global access control company in Pennsylvania, where he guided the company through a period of growth based on a strategy of customer and employee engagement and successful acquisitions. Prior to his time at DORMA, he was managing director for U.S.-based Robert Bosch LLC’s security systems division and served in senior leadership roles for Royal Philips N.V.
Married with four children, he received a mechanical engineering degree from Eindhoven Technical University in the Netherlands. He has an executive MBA in strategy and innovation from MIT.
As Taco’s new president and COO, VandeWiel will report directly to White.
