PROVIDENCE – A public workshop will be held on Aug. 30 to discuss design and traffic issues relating to the replacement of the 6-10 Connector, and portions of Route 6 and Route 10. Hosted by the city of Providence, the meeting will be from 6-8:30 p.m. at the Asa Messer Elementary School, 1655 Westminster St.
The 6-10 Connector, an elevated highway, is in disrepair and will be replaced by the R.I. Department of Transportation.
The city, in a Facebook posting, said it is launching a public process to bring people who live in the affected communities together with city and state officials to “craft a design proposal” for the connector.
Affected neighborhoods include Olneyville, the West End, Federal Hill, Silver Lake, Hartford, Valley and Smith Hill.
