PROVIDENCE – Mayor Angel Taveras will announce a new plan for the historic façade of the Providence National Bank building Monday at 10 a.m.

The 1950s-façade’s steel bracing has been blocking the sidewalk for six years after development plans stalled.

“Preservation of the façade was critical in maintaining the unique curvature on lower Weybosset Street – distinctly defined by this façade and its neighbor, the Turks Head building,” a city news release said.

The property owner of 43 Weybosset St., O’Connor Capital Partners, worked with the Providence Preservation Society, the Providence Revolving Fund and the City of Providence on the project, the release said.
