PROVIDENCE – Businesses applying for tax credits for contributions to scholarship organizations must file an original certificate with their tax return, according to the R.I. Division of Taxation.
Once the scholarship contribution is made, the business must submit to the Division of Taxation certification by an independent certified public accountant that the contribution has been made, along with a copy of the cancelled check, the division said in a July update on the issue on its website, www.tax.ri.gov.
