Tech Collective: GRRL Tech 2016 volunteers needed

PROVIDENCE – Tech Collective is looking for volunteers for GRRL Tech 2016 to assist with workshops and chaperone.
Those who work in STEM – science, technology, engineering and math – fields are welcome to apply.
GRRL Tech, an interactive technology expo for female high school students, will be held March 24 at the University of Rhode Island in South Kingstown.
Last year, the expo welcomed more than 450 students from 25 Rhode Island high schools and tech centers. More than 4,000 female high school students and their educators have attended since its inception 15 years ago, according to Tech Collective, the state’s bioscience and information technology association.
In addition, since 2008, the GRRL Tech scholarship committee has awarded more than $560,000 in college scholarships to girls who attended the expo.
The 2016 GRRL Tech keynote speaker is Kim Kowal Arcand, Rhode Island’s NASA astronomer. She also will lead two workshops.
For information about sponsoring, volunteering or attending, contact Jo Ann Johnson at (401) 521-7805, ext. 103, or jjohnson@tech-collective.org. The registration deadline is Feb. 25.
