Tech Collective forum to focus on BYOD

Posted 4/24/13

PROVIDENCE – In the first of its new Legal Tech series, the Tech Collective – Rhode Island’s IT and Bioscience industry association, will discuss the legalities and problems behind the “Bring Your Own Device” trend.

The lecture, the first in a series of five forums, is scheduled for Thursday, April 25 at the Rhode Island Foundation and will focus on the pros and cons of implementing a BYOD policy.

According to a Tech Collective release, the forum will also discuss the laws and regulations implication by BYOD policies.

“As technology continues to play an increasingly central role in business and productivity, the lines of personal and professional become blurry, as do the lines of technology and legal liabilities,” Kathie Shields, executive director of Tech Collective, said in prepared remarks.

“While the industry has not yet written the definitive handbook on law and IT, the LEGAL TECH series, with the knowledge and leadership of Duffy & Sweeney, aims to offer some clarity and best practices surrounding these issues,” she said.

Future Legal Tech forums will feature subjects including: cloud computing, internships, non-competes and assignment of inventions, and biotech compliance and regulation.
