Why did you select your profession?

The old joke is that no one plans on working in insurance! But in terms of how I selected my profession, I must say that it was really a matter of saying “yes” to opportunities when they presented themselves.

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever been given?

Do something that you enjoy, and work with people whom you enjoy.

What advice would you give your 22-year-old self?

Do what you love and don’t hesitate to take the opportunities that life presents to you.

How do you keep a work-life balance?

I really make it a point to spend as much time as possible with family and friends outside of work.

What one thing in your professional life would you like a do-over on?

While I was working in Zurich, you could get by using only English, as that was the language of business there. I wish I had tried harder to learn Swiss-German. •
