Thursday, join author James Garman, a retired history teacher, for a presentation on the history of Portsmouth. The town was founded in 1638 by 19 dissidents who had left Massachusetts under the advice and counsel of Roger Williams. During Garman’s lecture, attendees will learn the details of the Portsmouth Compact in honor of its 375th anniversary. This event is presented in conjunction with the library and the PortsmouthRI 375th Committee.
