Thrillist: Providence great for creative people

PROVIDENCE – It’s not known as the “Creative Capital” for nothing.

Rhode Island’s capital city is considered one of the “Best American Cities for Creatives (that aren’t NYC, LA or SF),” sharing space with cities that include Nashville, Tenn.; Baltimore; Bend, Ore.; Austin, Texas; and Las Vegas.

“This list takes into account the full livability spectrum: artistic communities (check), a good dose of nature (check), a food, craft beer/cocktail, or music scene, or all of the above (check), and a level of affordability that actually allows you to partake therein. … These are places where you can actually make it, the “it” being whatever you dream up,” Thrillist stated on its website.

Thrillist called Providence “a town for tourists and Ivy Leaguers,” but also “a great place to park it if you’re neither of those things.” •
