PROVIDENCE – Providence is one of the best places to spend a weekend.
The website Thrillist placed Providence 23rd on a list of the top 25 cities for weekend getaways.
“Rhode Island may be the smallest state, but Providence proves that bigger isn’t always better,” the website states. “Pedestrian-friendly streets and amazing architecture make this city a perfect place to stroll aimlessly.”
It names Al Forno as the place to eat, and also highlights the Statehouse as being worth a visit, as well as the Rhode Island School of Design art museum and Westminster Street, which it described as an “Etsy-like emporium of stores peddling tons of locally-made finds.” It also suggested viewing Waterfire, if the visit is during a warmer month.
Nashville, Tenn., was first on the list of cities for a weekend getaway. Second place went to New Orleans, and third, San Francisco. See the entire list HERE.
Thrillist researched more than 300 American cities with populations over 90,000 to create the list, looking at everything from food, entertainment and cheap Airbnbs to beaches, parks and museums.
