NEWPORT - Tickets are on sale for the final days of the America’s Cup World Series, when nine of the top sailing crews in the world sail into Newport, the final stop on the inaugural event.
“The championship has been extremely close since the first event in Portugal last summer,” Jimmy Spithill, skipper of Oracle Team USA, said in a prepared statement. “I won’t be surprised to see it come down to the final race, on the final day in Newport. And that’s the way it should be.”
Newport will host a “festival of sailing” from June 23 to July 1, culminating in the America’s Cup World Series running from Tuesday, June 26, through Sunday, July 1.
The America’s Cup series will climax on Sunday, with the final race. Both the event and season champion will be crowned.
General admission tickets to the A.C. Village in Fort Adams State Park on June 28 to July 1 are $10 per person per day. Children 12 and under get in free. No tickets are necessary from June 23 to June 27.
A.C. Village opens at 11:00 a.m. each day and closes at 5:00 p.m. except on race days, when it closes at 7:00 p.m.
