Tinker|Bristol slated to open in spring in Bristol

BRISTOL – Tinker|Bristol, a nonprofit manufacturing incubator, is slated to open on Wood Street in the spring, according to a news release from the company.
The company will provide manufacturing and rapid prototyping equipment, tools and business development services in a 12,000- to 15,000-square-foot space. Its mission is to help create products, artwork and businesses, and to support new businesses.
Creating jobs to grow Bristol and the East Bay area is another goal.
The facility will feature a community “makerspace,” which will be open to the public. Membership rates will be available, along with day passes.
“If you don’t know what a makerspace is – think of a gym – but instead of tread-mills and free-weights, we have 3D printers, CNC machines, welding equipment, laser cutters, etc.; 24/7 access will be made available at special membership rates and safety training. Have skills you can teach? Earn membership credits by teaching and volunteering,” the company stated in a press release.
The company is interested in hearing from people as to what they would like to see and use at the business. Surveys can be found on its Facebook page at www.facebook.com/tinkerbristol as well as its blog at tinkerbristol.tumblr.com/.
