Toray aids Navy Caring and Sharing program, Toys for Tots

NORTH KINGSTOWN – Toray Plastics (America) Inc.’s 12th annual Toys for Tots and Navy Caring and Sharing Breakfast raised $3,500 for the Navy program and collected 600 toys for the U.S. Marine Corps Toys for Tots program.
Held on Dec. 11, the event was the company’s most successful holiday charity event ever, with more than 80 Toray employees in attendance, the company said.
The $3,500, which included funds contributed by the company, was presented on Dec. 14 to Master Chief Shannon Howe of the Newport Naval Station.
“Toray’s generosity has touched us in ways that allow us to touch others. You are true Americans,” said Howe.
The Newport Naval Station’s Caring and Sharing program allows the Naval Command to provide holiday food baskets to sailors and their families who might otherwise not be able to have a special holiday dinner.
The U.S. Marine Corps Toys for Tots program helps less fortunate children throughout the United States experience the joy of Christmas and unite local communities in a common cause. The 600 toys donated by Toray were distributed to local families.
“I’m extremely proud of Toray employees,” says Lisa Ahart, vice president of U.S. Corporate Human Resources and Environment Health and Safety. “Their dedication to and enthusiasm for these important local causes will make a difference in the lives of many people this holiday season.”
