PROVIDENCE – Rhode Island’s capital city is the worst place to live in the event of a zombie attack.
And it’s also among the top 10 places most likely to have a ghost encounter.
Just in time for Halloween, the real estate website Trulia found the worst places to live in the country in the “unlikely event” of a zombie apocalypse, vampire attack or ghostly haunting, to help house hunters “avoid a close encounter with the undead.”
Because, Trulia said, “it’s no laughing matter when a dead body becomes reanimated and comes after you with a vengeance.”

All major urban areas with more than 800,000 people were studied. Results were based on the number of cemeteries per 50,000 people.

“Live near a cemetery? Good luck – especially if you live in Providence, R.I.,” Trulia said.

Providence has 11.5 cemeteries per 50,000 people, Trulia said.

In addition, Providence ranked fourth for ghostly encounters, behind New Orleans, Seattle and Kansas City, Mo.

There was some good news – Providence failed to crack the top 10 for a vampire attack. San Diego is the top city in the nation for that, Trulia said.
