PROVIDENCE – Twin River plans to add 50 more full-time equivalent jobs than originally estimated when the casino adds table games in July, upping its estimate to 400.
Twin River Board Chairman John E. Taylor Jr. announced that Twin River had upped its initial estimate of hiring 350 new full-time equivalent employees to hiring 400 by July. This number would translate into 600 new employees for the casino when part-time workers were factored in, said Taylor.
Of the 1,500 Twin River workers estimated by July, 85 percent are expected to be Rhode Islanders, said Taylor, adding that the economic impact of the casino’s expansion is expected to be $230 million.
Twin River has charged Gilbane Building Co. with building and managing internal renovations at casino, Taylor said.
Taylor made the announcements at the Greater Providence Chamber of Commerce’s 2013 Legislative Luncheon on Wednesday, of which the casino was the presenting sponsor.
Taylor said Twin River’s decision to sponsor the event was based entirely on a “profoundly positive experience” working with the state legislature to develop the bond referenda that allowed Rhode Island residents to vote on casino expansion in the Ocean State.
