UMass Dartmouth names Glatman research head

DARTMOUTH – Elena Glatman has been named the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth’s director of research administration.
She’ll be charged with overseeing research and innovation expansion. The role involves work not only on campus but across the region and commonwealth. Previously associate director of pre-award services at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Glatman started in the position May 19.
In fiscal 2014, research and development spending at UMass Dartmouth totaled $27.3 million compared to $21.3 million the year before. The school is ranked 77th nationally for funding in environmental science research and development.
Prior to WPI, Glatman was an assistant director at Brown University. She’s also held administrative research positions at Johns Hopkins University and at the Brown University Medical School. •
