The $12 million renovation of Butterfield Hall, one of two main dining centers at URI, involved a 10,000-square-foot renovation of the dining room and a 7,500-square-foot addition. The project included the rehabilitation of a student lounge on the upper level that leads to an outdoor roof deck. The eight-month project, which will seek LEED Silver certification, increased the capacity of the dining hall from 360 to 562 seats. Vision 3 Architects of Providence created the design. DiPrete Engineering conducted site engineering and construction administration. The general contractor was TRAC Builders of Providence.
