‘Unplugged’ Gala nets more than $84K

The Providence Children’s Museum recently welcomed 220 guests to the Providence Public Library for its annual gala fundraiser, “Unplugged – The Way to Play.”
During the April 25 event, supporters helped to raise $84,200 to benefit the museum and provide play and learning opportunities for children and families in need. Guests bid nearly $25,000 on 70 items in the live and silent auctions and purchased 28 charitable Children’s Museum memberships for low-income families.
The event also honored local leaders who foster community well-being through “shared fun and learning”, including:

  • John Elkhay, the owner of Chow Fun Food Group, who co-founded the Ross Elkhay Foundation in memory of his son to support children and their families who are living with life-altering or terminal illnesses.
  • Mike Tamburro, president of the Pawtucket Red Sox
  • Laurie White, president of the Greater Providence Chamber of Commerce
  • Cliff Wood, executive director of the Downtown Providence Parks Conservancy
