VNA of Care New England, Kent Hospital to host seminars on nursing career opportunities

WARWICK – The VNA of Care New England is hosting “Nursing in the Community Seminar Series,” which will focus on the future of community-based health care. The seminars will offer opportunities for attendees to meet with VNA representatives to learn about visiting nursing and their benefits, including loan forgiveness, daytime work shifts and a sign-on bonus.

The series, also sponsored by Kent Hospital, will be held at the Kent Hospital Doctors’ Auditorium, 455 Toll Gate Road, Warwick, on April 27, from 12-2:30 p.m.; May 18, 4-7 p.m.; and June 14, 9 a.m.-noon. Each session is eligible for one contact hour.

The VNA of Care New England reports that Lynn P. Blanchette, program director, BSN program at Rhode Island College School of Nursing, will lead the April 27 program; Diane Cocozza Martins, associate professor, University of Rhode Island College of Nursing, will lead the May 18 program; and Joanne F. Costello, professor, Rhode Island College of Nursing, will lead the June 14 program.

“This promises to be an exciting seminar series for the many nurses in our area looking to learn more about community-based health care and the exciting career opportunities available to them,” Kathleen Peirce, vice president of clinical operations, executive director, chief nursing officer, VNA of Care New England, said in the VNA statement. “The opportunity to hear from nursing leaders on the future of community nursing… presents attendees with tremendous opportunity and access to those helping shape the future of this time-honored profession.”

With more patients receiving home-based medical care, visiting nurses have the flexibility to travel within the state and care for patients in a one-on-one home setting.
