VNA of Care New England seeks hospice volunteers

WARWICK – The VNA of Care New England is looking for hospice volunteers who will help brighten the lives of patients and their families. Opportunities are available for direct patient Kiel Mi
Opportunities include: companionship and supportive listening for hospice patients, respite for caregivers (giving the caregiver a brief break while a volunteer remains physically present with the patient), meal preparation, errands, transportation, spiritual or bereavement support, and remaining present with the patient toward his or her final moments of life. Other opportunities may include participating in hobbies – such as knitting, sewing, scrapbooking, playing music, cards, chess or checkers – maintaining phone contact with patients and caregivers, and providing administrative office support for the volunteer hospice program.
