The 1926 Harold Gordon service station, at 498 Pine St., had been empty for decades when Deborah Schimberg, owner of Verve Inc., purchased it with the intention of making it the company’s new headquarters. The renovations were conducted with an environmental focus, salvaging what could be saved, and incorporating natural light and renewable energy elements, including solar panels and radiant heating. The renovation saved the original garage doors, as well as the iconic castle-like turret on the building. And the former mechanic’s pit has been reframed, to add storage and a private office to the 1,500-square-foot building.
