Veterans Workshop lands $25K from Michigan nonprofit

EAST GREENWICH – Veterans Workshop, a veterans charity located in Rhode Island, has landed $25,000 from Rochester Hills, Mich.-based nonprofit Others First.

The Providence-based program develops training programs for combat wounded and disabled American veterans and their families.

It specializes in training blind, deaf and paralyzed veterans in skills that allow them to work from home.

Veterans Workshop will use the $25,000 to assist in training blind veterans to become “relay operators” and make phone calls for deaf veterans using Google+ technologies.
