Viola Davis donates to Segue Institute

CENTRAL FALLS – Actress Viola Davis has donated $1,500 to the Segue Institute for Learning to support the charter school’s creation of a Martin Luther King Day mural.
On Jan. 19 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Segue volunteers will create murals and other beautification projects around campus as part of the Martin Luther King Day of Service.
Davis, a star of stage and screen, is a Central Falls native who has continuously supported the school since it was established in 2006 and opened in 2009.
Victor Terry, a sixth-grade teaching partner at Segue, is coordinating efforts by participating students and staff.
“A national holiday since 1983, this day is not only a ‘vacation’ day from school or work, but a day that should be utilized to give back to the community through service,” said Terry. “I can’t think of a better way to do this than to give back to our great Segue Community – and we cannot thank Ms. Viola Davis enough for her ongoing dedication to our school.”
