WESTERLY – The Westerly Community Credit Union donated $2,265 to each of four high school sports boosters from proceeds of its 29th annual holiday basketball tournament held, according to a press release.
High school sports boosters receiving the funds from the December tournament are Chariho, Exeter-West Greenwich, Stonington and Westerly.
“Westerly Community Credit Union has always been a very community-oriented institution,” the financial institution’s President and CEO Steve White. “We couldn’t be happier being the sole sponsor of this event for the past 29 years and raising money to help our communities’ young adults.”
Since it began in 1984, the tournament has raised $175,000.
