WESTERLY – Westerly Community Credit Union is sponsoring the financial literacy program EverFi to high school students at The Prout School in Wakefiled, according to a Jan. 8 announcement.
“Financial literacy has been a major focus for our credit union for years and this program is a positive addition to our existing programs,” said Westerly Community Credit Union President and CEO Steve White. “Our hope is to teach our young adults the importance of good financial management, so they will have a financially secure adulthood.
Students will participate in the 10-unit course, which includes six hours of programming aimed at teaching, assessing and certifying students in a variety of financial topics, including credit scores, insurance, credit cards, student loans, mortgages, taxes, stocks, savings, 401(k)’s and other critical concepts in line with national financial literacy standards. The Web-based program tracks the progress and score of every student. Those who successfully complete the course earn a certification in financial literacy.
