W&I repositions itself for new health care marketplace

PROVIDENCE – In response to the national health care reform implementation, Women & Infants Hospital announced that it has bolstered the services offered to its Center for Primary Care, expanding the number of physicians available to see patients.
“The health care industry as a whole is becoming increasingly focused on keeping people well instead of treating them when they’re sick,” said Dr. Raymond O. Powrie, interim chief of medicine and at Women & Infants.
The best way to do this, Powrie continued, “is to provide solid primary care services. At Women & Infants, even though we are nationally renowned as a specialty hospital, we are also keenly aware of the importance of providing primary care.”
To help accomplish this shift, four new physicians have been hired at the Center for Primary Care: Dr. Natalia Belosloudtseva, Dr. Douglas Blecker, Dr. Laura Ofstead, and Dr. Jeanne Oliva. Each of whom are trained in internal medicine, or the primary care of adult patients.
