PROVIDENCE – Texas is the place to be for college graduates looking to launch careers, according to WalletHub.
Providence, not so much.
Texas cities held six of the top 10 spots in the latest survey by the personal finance website, which ranked the country’s 150 largest cities in terms of career potential.
Irving, Texas placed first, followed by Lone Star cities Grand Prairie and Austin. Houston was fifth, Corpus Christi, Texas was sixth and Fort Worth, Texas, eighth.
Providence was ranked 132nd, although it fared slightly better in the professional opportunities and quality of life subcategories at 128th and 130th, respectively. Detroit came in last.
Boston ranked highest among the New England areas at 45th.
WalletHub studied factors such as jobless rate, economic mobility, median income growth rate, monthly median starting salary and number of entry-level jobs per 10,000 inhabitants to come up with its results.
