Warwick contracts Apex Technology for IT support

WARWICK – The city has awarded a two-year support and management service contract to Apex Technology Group Inc. to improve IT strategy, project management and communication within the Warwick Management Information Services Division.
Under the terms of the contract, jointly announced by Mayor Scott Avedisian and Apex Technology President and CEO Christopher Dale on April 3, Apex staff will serve in an advisory capacity, providing a wide range of professional services, including assisting with the planning of new initiatives, managing MIS Division staff and vendors, developing a budget and creating IT maintenance and management plans.
“As we all continue to rely more and more on technology, it’s critically important that the city has a comprehensive, forward-thinking strategy in place to ensure that our systems function well and properly and help to make the city run more efficiently and effectively,” Avedisian said.
The contract was awarded in answer to a city-commissioned assessment of MIS personnel needs, infrastructure, hardware and software, which recommended contracting with an outside vendor that could help improve the city’s IT capabilities, as well as provide IT help-desk and remote support, according to a news release from Avedisian’s office.
“Apex is excited to partner with the city of Warwick to manage and improve information technology services,” said Dale in a statement. “We’ll work diligently together, optimizing IT to benefit the employees, citizens and stakeholders of Warwick.”
Founded in 1009, Apex is headquartered in Cranston and maintains regional offices in Massachusetts, Connecticut and Washington, D.C. Its clients include both public and private-sector organizations, including the city of Woonsocket, Johnson & Wales University, the University of Rhode Island, the town of Coventry and its school district, the Scituate Police Department and the Jamestown School District.
