Wash. Trust honored by Autism Project

WESTERLY – The Washington Trust Co. last month was honored by the Autism Project in recognition of its fundraising and volunteer efforts associated with the organization.
Washington Trust Co., a Washington Trust Bancorp Inc. company, was given the Essential Piece award for its efforts working at the The Autism Project’s annual Imagine Walk and Family Fun Day for Autism, according to a press release.
“Each year at the Imagine Walk and Family Fun Day for Autism, the Washington Trust volunteers are dedicated, professional and full of enthusiasm,” said Joanne Quinn, executive director of The Autism Project, in a statement.
The Autism Project, or TAP, is a Johnston-based group of parents and professionals who work toward improving the lives of children, teens and adults with an autism spectrum disorder, along with their families and other professionals who care for and educate them, according to the organization.
TAP serves more than 5,000 people throughout Rhode Island each year, according to the release, and the Fun Day is its biggest fundraiser and awareness-raiser of the year.
“[Washington Trust] takes care of the very important donations we receive that day and they always go above and beyond to streamline the many details and they do it all with a smile on their faces,” said Quinn. “They are so easy to work with, and they are essential to the success of the Walk. We wanted to honor their incredible volunteer efforts with a special award this year. We truly couldn’t do it without them.”
