WESTERLY – The Washington Trust Charitable Foundation has donated $15,000 to the Greater Westerly Chamber Foundation to help support the ‘Bring Back the Beach’ Misquamicut Beach Recovery Fund to help repair significant damage incurred from Hurricane Sandy.

It is the largest donation the fund has received for its effort.

“This is our hometown and we are committed to helping our community,” said Joseph J. MarcAurele, Washington Trust chairman, president and CEO, in a release. “We hope this donation will help our neighbors restore the Misquamicut Beach area for all to enjoy.”

The Greater Westerly Chamber of Commerce said in a release that it has received donations from businesses and organizations all over the region for restoration and rebuilding efforts.

“We are truly grateful to Washington Trust for taking a leadership role with the Misquamicut Beach Recovery Fund,” said Lisa Konicki, executive director of the chamber, in a statement.
