WESTERLY – During the month of March, Washington Trust is collecting peanut butter for Rhode Island food banks to help fight hunger in the state, according to a press release from the bank.

The 13th annual Washington Trust Peanut Butter Drive is encouraging collections at workplaces, as well as accepting jars of peanut butter at any bank branch.

Since the project began in 2001, the bank has collected more than 100 tons of peanut butter, with each jar making 16 sandwiches. Information is available at www.peanutbutterbank.com.
