Watertree set to help distribute donations

BOSTON – Watertree Health and Make-A-Wish America will distribute donations to Make-A-Wish Massachusetts and Rhode Island, one of the 61 Make-A-Wish chapters nationwide, as part of an evolving national alliance.
Based in Destin, Fla., Watertree Health, which launched the free prescription discount card in 2011 to help Americans who don’t have adequate prescription coverage, is a company dedicated to improving health services. Make-A-Wish grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions.
Make-A-Wish and Watertree Health recently announced the formation of a nationwide program to help increase the number of people who can afford their prescriptions and help grant more wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions. The national alliance was formed after a successful test program with chapters in Arizona, central and northern Florida, and Nebraska.
The way the program works is: each time someone saves money using the prescription discount card benefitting Make-A-Wish, Watertree Health donates 50 cents to the organization. The money raised from use of the discount card will be distributed to the local chapter that grants wishes in that area of the country.
To date, for the first three chapters, the program has raised almost $90,000 to help create life-changing experiences for wish kids. The initiative will now be able to benefit chapters nationwide.
“The success we have seen in our pilot program is astounding,” said Watertree Health President Shane Power. “We know that by rolling this program out across the country, we can help more people save money while at the same time grant the wishes of some amazing children in that community.”
David Williams, Make-A-Wish America president and CEO, welcomed the opportunity to participate more broadly.
“This alliance gives individuals the rare opportunity to help others while they help themselves,” Williams said. “As more people use discount cards to get discounted prescriptions, more wish kids will get the chance to experience the power and positivity that comes from having their one true wish granted.”
The prescription discount card, administered by Watertree Health, is free and available to anyone. It is accepted at over 60,000 pharmacies across the country and reduces the price of brand name and generic prescriptions by as much as 75 percent. The card can be used by individuals to complement a health insurance plan, to help fill in gaps, or by those who do not have health coverage.
The card benefitting Make-A-Wish is available at www.watertreehealthcard.com/wish. The card can be downloaded, mailed or emailed. A card can also be obtained by texting WISH to 95577 or emailing wish@WatertreeHealth.com.
