Webster Bank VP community hero

WATERBURY – Robert F. “Bob” Polito Jr., senior vice president, director of government guaranteed lending at Webster Bank, has been honored as a Community Bank Hero by The Commercial Record. The award recognizes bankers who have made outstanding contributions to the industry and to the community, giving freely of their time, energy and resources for volunteerism, community service and charity. The Commercial Record is a multimedia news outlet for real estate and business news for all of Connecticut.

Polito has 25 years of banking experience and has received numerous awards; in 2009, he was named the veteran business champion of the year by the Small Business Administration’s Connecticut District Office. He was recently elected president of the SBA’s CT Key to the Future, the SBA’s educational and business outreach non-profit entity.

A former Army captain, he was twice awarded The Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal for exemplary behavior, efficiency, and fidelity while serving as a member of his unit. He was selected as an Honorary Grand Marshal for the 2010 Greater Hartford Veteran’s Day Parade. As for community service, Polito has served on numerous boards and was the president of the University of New Haven’s alumni association. He is presently the vice-chairman of Connecticut’s Masonic Charity Foundation and the Chairman of Masonicare’s Investment Committee.
