Webster Bank gives $6K to CGF

PROVIDENCE – Webster Bank has awarded a $6,000 grant to Capital Good Fund to support the financial literacy program Empower Rhode Island.
“Financial literacy and empowerment are Webster’s key philanthropic missions,” Bob Twomey, Webster Bank’s regional president for Rhode Island and southeastern Massachusetts, said in the Oct. 8 announcement.
“Empower Rhode Island is filling a critical need in this state by providing real, actionable help to people who really need it,” Twomey said. “Our employees are very engaged in the process and we are very happy to provide both volunteer and financial help to support the program.”
Webster Bank’s five volunteer financial coaches for Empower Rhode Island are Senior Vice President and Market Manager Sharon Trask, Vice President for Government and Institutional Banking Pat Paola and Mortgage Banking Officers Michelle Davidson, Helene Pelosi and Danielle Gatti.
Launched earlier this year in conjunction with Rhode Island’s Office of the General Treasurer, Empower Rhode Island provides one-on-one financial coaching to adults and high school students across the state.
“It is only through collaboration with financial institutions like Webster Bank that we can carry
out our mission of using financial services to empower low-income families to get ahead,” said
Andy Posner, founder and executive director of Capital Good Fund.
