PROVIDENCE – Webster Bank has appointed two new business bankers to be based in the Providence regional headquarters of the Waterbury, Conn.-based bank.
Doug Scala has been appointed senior vice president and unit manager for middle market banking, the bank announced July 30. The region he oversees includes Rhode Island and southeastern Massachusetts.
Scala, a resident of East Providence, has previous experience with The Hudson Cos. and Bank of America. He is vice chairman of the Business Development Company of Rhode Island.
Scala has a bachelor’s degree from Lake Forest College and an MBA from George Washington University.
Webster Bank named David Booth vice president for business banking for a region that includes East Greenwich, Westerly and Seekonk, Mass. He previously worked for Bank Rhode Island.
Booth has a bachelor’s degree in business administration, with a concentration in finance, from Bryant University.
Webster Bank Chairman and CEO James Smith told Providence Business News earlier in July that the bank is looking for ways to expand its franchise in Rhode Island, in both commercial and consumer banking.
