WellOne awarded grants totaling more than $230K

PASCOAG – WellOne Primary Medical and Dental Care, the state’s oldest community health center, was awarded several different grants totaling more than $230,000 in the last month, center officials announced on Jan. 15.

The 103-year-old community health center, with more than 13,000 patients, was award $70,000 from the Rhode Island Foundation to extend its reduced fee program who low-income households who narrowly miss qualifying for a federally designated discount.

The Episcopal Charities Fund of Rhode Island awarded WellOne $6,000 towards its charity care to provide financial support for primary medical, dental and behavioral health care, on a sliding fee scale basis.

Ocean State Charities Trust awarded WellOne $2,586 for the purchase of six patient scales in order to ensure the obtainment of accurate vital statistics.

The Champlin Foundations has awarded WellOne $155,000 toward the purchase of a generator at the agency’s Pascoag center in order to: complete necessary surgical and other procedures, which otherwise would be disrupted by a loss of electrical power.

The June Rockwell Levy Foundation has awarded WellOne $20,000 towards general support for the agency’s Foster center

“The awarding of these grants during a time when resources are scarce and the availability of funding is highly competitive, is a continued reflection of the good work that WellOne provides to our communities and our patient,” said WellOne President and CEO Peter J. Bancroft
